Bottled Water vs Tap Water

With the bottled water industry now measured in the billions of dollars, the argument between bottled water and tap water has begun to rage in earnest.

There are just as many people arguing for the benefits of bottled water as there are arguing against the use of bottled water.

Many people drink bottled water. Indeed, the sale of bottled water has more than doubled and is threatening to overwhelm the soda industry. The arguments for bottled water are varied. These arguments include; bottled water is healthier than tap water, bottled water contains no pollution and an assortment of healthy vitamins and minerals, you can trust a sealed bottle when you may no be able to trust tap water and, because bottled water is usually refrigerated, one often hears “I like my water cold”. The best argument for bottled water is that you can trust it. Producers of bottled water are regulated by the government and they even have to include nutritional information on the packaging. With the distrust of local tap water on the rise, many people simply trust bottled water more.

The arguments against bottled water range from the ludicrous to the thought provoking but, there are three primary concerns expressed by the critics of bottled water. First is the health consideration. Distilled water is said to contain to few, or too many, chemicals. Bottled water contains less fluoride than tap water. Therefore, drinkers of bottled water are more at risk to tooth decay. Bottled water may also contain too much calcium or too many estrogenic chemicals. The second concern is the damage to the environment. This includes the pollution caused by plastic water bottles and the contribution to global warming caused by the manufacture of bottled water and the increased carbon emissions from the energy used to cool most bottled water. The third concern or question is that no-one can tell the difference between bottled or tap water anyway.

So, it’s up to you to decide, is your liquid refreshment going to come from the bottle or from the tap today? There is more than one side for bottled water vs tap water.

Bottled Water Dispensers

If you are interested in having your own water dispenser at home then a bottled water dispenser will be a good choice for you.

It is very easy to handle and has many advantages and because of this it has become very popular for everyone.

Presently they are available in two categories; freestanding dispensers and counter top dispensers. Push button faucet and removable drip trays for cleaning make either of them very easy to use.

The Freestanding bottled water dispenser types that are available.

Cold units can dispense only cold water

Hot and cold units will dispense both hot and cold water

And the most modern type of bottled water dispensers will offer hot water, cold water and water at room temperature with different faucets for these operations.

One of the best features is for child safety. As it is mostly used in residential areas, the question of child safety comes first to your mind. By using child resistant nozzles, which dispense both hot and cold water, you can protect your child from any accident. Another great feature is an indicator light by which you can easily keep track of the amount of water, whether it is cooling, heating or turned on.

Even with many advantages, the bottled water dispenser also has some disadvantages. Sometimes the compressor in it can’t properly cool the water although it is working. This is a generally a problem of a gas leak within the water system itself and may require maintenance from a plumber.

Distilled Water Delivery

Distilled water is water which is free from impurities. The water is sterilized before being put into a clean container and sold and so this removes all the solid contaminants from the water.

In some parts of the world, water from a tap is not suitable for consumption without treatment and so having distilled water is a necessity.

The distillation process will remove:

Bacteria

Viruses

Cysts

Chemicals

Heavy Metals

Distilled water is now a massive seller and is purchased daily by millions – because of the health benefits of staying hydrated, the preference to drink pure water and the common use in dentists, doctors and offices. Thanks to an increase in demand for a “real” water and a lack of stores selling enough to meet the high demand, suppliers are now offering nationwide, even worldwide distilled water delivery.

The delivery service is offered online by many suppliers and is becoming more and more used thanks to the suppliers sometimes offering very competitive prices – no overheads . Those who live in an area where there is a need for distilled water, or where there are a limited number of stores to purchase this product will find the delivery service to be a great service.

When choosing a supplier for your delivered distilled water service, it is important that you check out about the company and check that their standards, meet your standards. Some may not properly distill their water and if you are paying for something which has no impurities then you should receive something that has no impurities.

Ask the supplier about their quality control procedures, before you buy. Check that all bottles are checked with a high quality digital meter and the total dissolved solids (TDS) reading indicated that there were 0ppm (parts per million).

Due to the increasing demand and still a limited number of places to buy from, you should check that the supplier has the ability to meet your order, for when you need it. There are many places which require a ten day period to process your order before even being shipped. If this is the case, then it does not mean you shouldn’t go for it with that supplier, but order in plenty of time.

If you intend on using a distilled water delivery upplier regularly, then it might be worth your while getting in touch with the supplier direct and explaining your situation, how much you would be likely to purchase each week/month/year and begin to develop a good working relationship with them. It is business basics that a company owner should maintain a good relationship with their main and regular customers, so you might find that your orders are more quickly processed than if you did not talk with them beforehand.

Reverse Osmosis Bottled Water

Reverse osmosis was first used as an alternate way of purifying water over 40 years ago. Originally it was used as a way of removing the salt from seawater, to make it drinkable to humans.

Once it had become more well known for it’s capabilities as a water purifier, reverse osmosis appliances were developed and started to enter the general household as early as the 1970s and has since been used as a more Eco-friendly and cost effective way to produce bottled water.

Osmosis is the movement of water from one concentrated solution to another, to balance out the concentration of both solutions through a semi-permeable membrane. For example, water from one (lower concentrated) solution, will transfer through the membrane into the other (higher) concentrated membrane.

The reverse osmosis process is where water is forced through a semi permeable membrane from the stronger solution into the weaker solution, leaving two solutions: one very highly concentrated (which is discarded) and one low concentrated solution which is almost pure to be used as drinking water, bottled and sold.

This way of providing reverse osmosis bottled water to the public is a cheaper way than the distillation factories who distill water and free it from impurities. While the distillation method removes a lot of impurities, as well as all the salts, some contaminants might remain – it depends on the size of the impurity whether it would get through the membrane, or be stopped by it.

Reverse osmosis will result in a good mineral free water, as mineral particles would be too large to break through the membrane. If this is what is wanted from the water, then this process is arguably the best way to go. The fact that it is better for the environment and that it is cheaper to make, and thus cheaper to buy, makes it a very desirable product. It will also remove harmful impurities which are not minerals, such as fluoride. This will ensure that the water is safe to drink making the process good for those who do not have safe drinking water readily available to them.

The downsides to reverse osmosis in water is that by removing the alkali properties, it creates an acidic water which can cause the body some harm; It’s also wasteful in a sense, because it wastes 3x more “contaminated” water than it produces for drinking.

Though, if what you are looking for is a water which is environmentally friendly, cheap and free from dangerous impurities (or impurities which are dangerous in high volumes) such as salt, lead, manganese, iron, calcium and fluoride, then reverse osmosis bottled water is an exceptionally easy process to “create” your pure water.

Poland Springs Bottled Water

Poland springs are a leading bottled water provider who also offer delivery all over North America. The company is part of Nestle-Waters, who produce and sell 15 of the top brand bottled waters in the USA.

The first bottled water that they sold was the world famous Perrier Sparking Natural Mineral Water. Buying from such a company, with an outstanding reputation and desire to please customers is surely one of the key importances when looking for a supplier of pure water.

Poland Spring Bottled Water sells from as little as $1 per day including delivery! In order to see the full prices and delivery information and costs in your area then you just need to log on to their Website and enter your information there. At that point you can choose whether to log in as a customer for your own personal use or for regular supplies to an office, and just to add to the feeling of trust and security with the company, although an email is asked for, it is not compulsory (to learn more) so you wont need to worry about anyone selling on your information or receiving junk emails.

Bottled Water Delivery Service

Due to the exponential increase of the consumption of bottled water worldwide – especially in the United States – there has been an equally impressive increase in the companies that supply and deliver bottled water.

This is a very effective ploy especially during presentations to clients, training events and company events. The idea is to imprint the message into the minds of the person drinking the water by having the message close at hand at all times.

There are many companies that offer the service of creating water bottle labels and these are reasonable priced at as little as 30c per bottle. This is but a fraction of the cost of most advertising budgets in big corporations.

The idea of private label bottled water is a very good idea for restaurants, gyms, car dealership, political campaigns, banks, hotels, spas, hospitals and many more. The provision of drinking water implies many positive connotations, for example, the hotel cares about the health of their clientele by providing healthy water or the gymnasium ensures that our members remain hydrated throughout their session, a very important facet of maintaining your health and fitness.

Another good idea for private label bottled water is for use at weddings. An image of the bridal couple and a commemorative statement can be a very special gift to remind the guests of your special day. Most companies who provide the labelling service allow their customers to provide their own artwork or wording for the label. This allows the message that you wish to convey to be very unique and specific to what you are trying to achieve.

A very good idea for a company is simply handing out private label bottled water at traffic lights or in shopping malls on very hot days. This is a way in which you can guarantee the attention of the targeted individual and puts the company you are trying to promote in a very positive light.

Bottled Water Home Delivery

The consumption of bottled water has increased dramatically over the past few years. One of the reasons is that companies are starting to realize the benefits of providing clean and healthy drinking alternatives to their staff, but another is that consumers are becoming more health conscious.

Bottle-less water coolers are connected directly to the main water supply of the building but the bottled water coolers offer many benefits over these coolers.

Firstly, the bottled water cooler can be put anywhere in the building without being dependant on the access to the water mains.

Secondly, the number of units can be increased or decreased without having to make any plumbing alterations and thirdly, the bottled water is guaranteed high quality water because the vendor must comply to strict government regulations when supplying water to consumers.

There are many distributors of bottled water (such as Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and so forth) distributing many well known brands that exist in the market. These include Perrier, Evian, Volvic, San Pellegrino, Vittel and many others.

The consumption of bottled water has grown at an astronomic rate and is now even challenging the carbonated drinks market. This is due to the fact that most people are starting to mistrust the local water from the tap and believe that bottled water is the healthier alternative. Additionally, bottled water is a very convenient means to hydrate oneself during the day.

Water coolers are also often seen as a place where people within an organization can get together, gossip and have a break from the working day. Most companies nowadays are providing access to bottled water coolers in break or rest areas for the use of staff members.

There are some detractors of this increase in the consumption of bottled water. Most critics say that the environmental impact is just too high with the increase in carbon emissions as a result of producing the water and of cooling the water is having a detrimental impact on the environment.

However, bottled water consumption is on the rise and, with the huge profits being available to producers, this trend will, in all likelihood, continue.

Best Bottled Water

There are many considerations to take into account when deciding on the best bottled water. There are so many different brands and distributors to choose from and the number is growing every day.

There are also considerations such as; do you prefer your water in glass or plastic, do you like still, sparkling, effervescent or bubbly water. Each person has his or her personal favorites but, there are some brands that are generally considered to be the best.

The most logical measure of the quality of bottled water, and therefore a good measure of which is the best, is the chemical composition of the water. The pH balance is considered and the concentration of Calcium, Chloride, Fluoride, Magnesium, Nitrate, Potassium, Sodium and a host of other minerals is also an important yardstick to use.

With these considerations in mind the following brands have come out tops… Saratoga Springs Perrier Gerolsteiner Lurisia Evian Volvic Vittel Fiji This list comprises water from different categories; from still water (flat water with no bubbles) to bold and bubbly (water with big, lively bubbles).

Research has revealed that the argument for the best bottled water may not be scientific at all. Researching consumer feedback displays a very fickle public. Whilst some consumers argue for the reverse osmosis (the absorption of minerals into the body) effect of Dasani, others argue that the taste of certain waters is not to their liking. For every positive review available for a particular brand there are just as many negative reviews.

Therefore, the choice of which bottled water should come down to a question of which bottled water is best for you. Working with a nutritionist will help identify which water would be best for you. San Pellegrino, for example, contains the highest content of Calcium and Chloride, and this may be just the water your body needs. Others may simply like the feel of a particular bottle in the hand, and yet others might just like the price of their particular choice.

So, whilst the fight for the best bottled water rages, most suggest that you just find a brand that you like, and enjoy it.
